Registrations for the world's largest and most important event for shoe shiners, "Maître Cireurs de Chaussures" have started. Here we present the contenders for the "Golden Brush" 2023. Visitors can have their shoes polished for free on 18 and 19 March at the Gare Maritime in Brussels. Today we introduce our colleague "Gaio il Calzolaio" from Verona, Italy (in English and Italian): Gaio il Calzolaio: He is a child of art; at age 8 he began his first brush strokes in his father's workshop.
This year he celebrates 38 years as a shoemaker and shoeshiner. He is the first Italian member to join the ESSA association.
His uniqueness is his outfit: he always wears a tailcoat and top hat. This uniqueness has allowed him to be invited to numerous gala events and to shine shoes for world-famous artists.
In the photos we can recognize Andrea Bocelli, Enrico Ruggeri and others. Gaio il Calzolaio: E' figlio d'arte; a 8 anni inizia a dare le prime pennellate di colore nella bottega di suo padre.
Quest'anno compie 38 anni di attività di calzolaio e lustrascarpe. E' il primo membro italiano a far parte dell'associazione ESSA.
La sua particolarità è l'outfit: indossa sempre un frac e cilindro. Questa sua unicità gli ha permesso di essere invitato a numerosi eventi di gala e di lustrare le scarpe ad artisti di fama mondiale.
